A place for people and nature to thrive
Investing in the Community
Castle End Gardens would provide local facilities to complement the existing village and meet the needs of the new community.
Across the new community we envisage the following:
- Flexible community space for local events, classes and exhibitions
- Gym
- Café and local shop
- Health centre including GP services
- Community gardens and allotments
- Wildlife resource and learning centre
- Outdoor sports facilities
Berkeley is committed to working with local people and Wokingham Borough Council to develop these proposals and ensure that the new facilities contribute to a strong, fulfilled and connected community. By providing well designed facilities on site we can also help to reduce the need to travel by car and support sustainable lifestyles.
At Twyford we would provide fantastic new spaces for learning at the heart of the community.
We would provide a hub for education to not only meet the needs of the new residents but also provide increased choice of schools locally for the existing community.
We would work with Wokingham Borough Council to deliver a new 3-form entry primary school and a pre-school nursery, together with land for the future expansion of The Piggott School, or a new secondary school, if one is required.
By planning for education close to the doorstep we can support sustainable lifestyles and help to reduce the need for school drop-offs to be undertaken by private car. The school spaces and facilities can be designed flexibly with opportunities for shared community use out of school hours.
